    Save Cantonese at UCLA is part of a global movement dedicated to sustaining and celebrating Cantonese language and culture.

     

    Our grassroots advocacy works to protect local language programs while fostering connections across the global Cantonese diaspora. We honor the rich history of Cantonese people at UCLA—their contributions as laborers, students, and educators—and are committed to building a thriving Cantonese-speaking and learning community for future generations.

     

    We welcome everyone, regardless of background or language ability, to join us in this important effort.

    Our Goals

    • Strengthen Educational Resources: Advocate for the development and preservation of educational and research programs for Cantonese at UCLA and beyond
    • Celebrate Cantonese Culture: Highlight the cultural and historical contributions of Cantonese people at UCLA and around the world
    • Foster Collective Action: Unite Cantonese diasporic and language-learning communities to take meaningful action in support of Cantonese language and culture
